Based on the recommendations of an independent environmental health check report, our policy incorporates key areas such as waste disposal and energy utilization, and wherever possible we use organic / free range food from local suppliers, and seek to use goods and services which do not have a negative environmental impact.
Action is being taken in the following areas: Waste. Refilling of tea & Coffee jars in the guest rooms, to reduce packaging. Shower gels are refilled from larger containers. Goods bought with minimal packaging where possible. We subscribe to the Mail Preference service (MPS) to reduce junk mail. Menus printed in draft mode to save on ink and reduce cartridge waste. Recycle. We recycle plastic bottles, paper, tins and glass. Energy. We operate a switch off policy where possible so that items are not left on stand by. White goods are triple A rated. Energy efficient bulbs are fitted where possible. Low energy lights illuminate the hallway at night. The property is double glazed throughout. Thermostatic valves are fitted to radiators to adjust heat levels accordingly. The properly has 100% wall insulation. The boiler is a highly efficient gas condensing model. The electric is supplied by Powergen's Greenpplan (which supplied renewable electricity). Water A water but is used to collect rain water for the garden. Toilets are replaced with dual flush models (two recently). We ensure there are no dripping taps. Purchasing Wherever possible we use local suppliers and seek to use goods and services which do not have a negative environmental impact.
